This piece is inspired by the Stirling Basket hilts attributed to the Allen Family. An extraordinarily detailed work, the raised steel basket is chiseled and inlaid with pure silver wire then incised and polished. Likewise, the pommel is chiseled and inlaid, while the grip is made from ray skin and silver wire with silver collars top and bottom. The blade itself is narrow, double edged and single fullered with a ricasso for optional coin or etching. The scabbard is made to match the sword - ash with molded and hand stitched calfskin, silver chape and locket and an ornate knotwork steel buckle.
